| The key to affordable healthcare is to reduce the cost of healthcare, not just to rely on regulating insurance. Encouraging competition by reducing or eliminating Certificate of Need laws as well as transparency in medical care costs are an effective first step. g) I can support if strict regulations are in place to prevent abuse and addiction. Much more is needed to take care of our senior citizens as well as those who need emotional/ mental health assistance. | |||

E - Equal rights means that everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, religion, or race must use the restroom that corresponds with gender on their birth certificate. However instead of a birth certificate perhaps a letter from a certified doctor that the transgender has undergone surgery would suffice. | |||
| Combat poverty by putting our neighbors to work. In addition to creating an environment this is favorable for economic growth, we can encourage our neighbors to open their own businesses by reforming North Carolina's Occupational License requirements. We must also ensure that our next generation is setup for success by repairing our educational system. Our teachers and administrators do an excellent job given the limited resources they are provided. We must ensure that our teachers receive are appreciation by compensating them fairly. Test scores do not provide an accurate picture of the effectiveness of a teacher or school. |
